Should Your Kids Focus on One or Multi Sports - Marek Komar on #TalktoJV
Marek Komar is all about helping people to be in the zone or as he calls it "Flow State". Listen in as him and JV discuss the drawback of only focusing on one sport at a time, and how this translates to business and personal goals. Should your kids focus on one sport? Should they focus on multiple sports? Studies have shown that early specialization is not helpful for motor development or psychological development. For example, if the whole year you are just playing hockey, you tend to burn out physically – which can result in chronic injuries; and even mental and emotional burn out can result, which steals focus. All great athletes played multiple sports growing up. Why does it help to move your focus elsewhere for a time and not just focus on one sport or goal? • Reducing the noise and detaching allows you to recover and then you are better able to come back, be focused and enjoy. • Multiple sports will help develop different motor skills that can overall help your performance. How does one manage to have the high-performance lifestyle without burning out? 1. Setting boundaries for yourself (setting limits for what you spend your time on) 2. Having a mindfulness practice to detach. Each episode of #TalktoJV we take the top clips of our guests and post them to our Guest Nuggets playlist. All about the raw value given by the guests. Tips, the economy, how to navigate university... videos will cover any and all topics. But what is important is the value that is offered. Are We Self Improving Ourselves To Death - Marek Komar on #TalktoJV
Marek Komar is all about helping people to be in the zone, or as he calls it "flow state". Listen in as he and JV discuss the importance of mindfulness when choosing self-improvement options to pursue. We put so much on our plate without asking ourselves - do I really want to do this? The result: We are self-improving ourselves to death. Take a moment and just reflect on this question: Am I doing these things because want to do them? If the answer is yes, then keep pushing yourself and those limits. However, if you realize this is not conducive to your time and values – then take a moment to reflect on it. This is where mindfulness comes in - creating a moment and the space to reflect on what you really want to achieve.
